Organically Grown Beef | Pricing Information | Payment Options

Due to the economy and the rising costs of grass and seed, we have sold all of our beef calves.

Organically Grown Beef

Our beef is organically grown no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, irradiation, or hormonal/steroid enhancers. "You are what you eat" and so is your beef. Your beef is fed only the best grains, hay, and pasture. Lots of TLC goes into Diamond M Ranch beef. No irradiation or chemical processing is used in the custom-cutting and freezer-wrapping of your beef. Your meat is handled by human hands only once. From the pasture to your freezer with no middlemen, wholesalers, distributors, transporters, market-employees, or other hands.

Beef Age

Diamond M Ranch sells "yearling" beef. It is one year old, more tender, less fatty, less cholesterol than the older "market" beef in the store. An average yearling beef yields approximately 350-400 pounds of meat; enough for a family of four for one year. An 18-21 cubic foot freezer easily handles this much frozen meat. 18 and 24 month old beef is also available and yields approximately 500 and 700 pounds, respectively.

Diamond M Ranch recommends beef at 12-18 months of age. It is more tender, leaner, and has less cholesterol. A beef at this age will average between 800 and 1,000 pounds.

Beef that is 18-24 months old is also excellent meat, but the finished weight can be 750-850 pounds or more and required freezer space should be considered. Many families 'share' such a beef and split the meat between two or more families.

Slaughter

Your beef is taken to a certified butcher where it is custom-cut to your order, freezer-wrap, and frozen for your freezer.

Storage

Beef between 12-18 months in age will yield between 450 and 600 pounds of processed beef for the freezer. A minimum of 18 cubic feet of combined freezer spaced will be required to hold this much beef. Diamond M Ranch beef is best if used within one-and-a-half years.

USDA advises that 450-600 pounds of beef is enough for an average family of four for one year; supplemented with other meats occasionally (such as chicken, fish, or pork).

There is an $80 charge for transporting the beef from Diamond M Ranch to the butcher. The total cost to Diamond M Ranch for an average 800 pound live weight beef is $1,832.00.

We transport your beef to the slaughterhouse for slaughter, custom cutting, and wrapping (includes freezing) under inspection to Perkinsville Meat Processing (928-636-6679). Please contact them for current pricing per pound "hanging weight" for the custom cut and wrap and the slaughter/inspection fee. Hanging weight is approximately two-thirds of the live weight.

Total cost for an 800 pound beef in the freezer is $2,230.00. Average yield weight, cut and wrapped, is 402-503 pounds in the freezer. Depending on how beef is ordered custom-cut, the "finished weight" is approximately three-fourths of the "hanging weight".

Delivery to Butcher

We transport your beef to the slaughterhouse for slaughter, custom cutting, and wrapping. Delivery and butchering in Nevada or Southern California as well as Arizona, is easily arranged at a small additional delivery charge.

Slaughter and Custom Cut/Wrap/Freezing

Please contact the slaughterhouse for current pricing for the slaughter/inspection fee and the custom cut and wrap fees. Custom cutting affects the final cut and wrapped weights. The amount of boneless cuts and specialty cuts can reduce or increase the overall poundage. Hanging weight is approximately two-thirds of the live weight.
